Food for the Hungry

The MSG Foundation, Inc. is alive, well and growing! Having literally outgrown the family style kitchen of the McDonald & Son Funeral Home Community room and moving into the commercial grade kitchen of our partner, Otwell Middle School September, 2013. May, 2015, we again found it necessary to modify our program to be more effective and meet the needs of the clients and families we serve.

In an effort to empower our clients to feed their families in the flavor of their traditional culture and taste, we have moved from one hot meal to a supplemental grocery system providing about a week's worth of food/household items.  This also allows the family unit to remain in the proper order of children looking to their parents to provide for their needs.   We have also expanded from seven (7) distribution sites to ten (10) distribution sites reaching from the City of Cumming going north covering the entire northern section from east to west.

We move all our supplies and food donations into the Otwell Middle School Cafeteria turning it into a mini-grocery where boxes are prepared and packaged. Volunteers meet us on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. and we have our teams move out by 11:15 a.m. to their sites as others clean and straighten.

With our awesome team of volunteers, we lend support to the challenged in our community, by offering a hand up not a hand out. Together, we the citizens of Forsyth County form an organization capable and available to assist those individuals who may need assistance from time to time, in day to day living. All of which is possible only through your participation and commitment. Thank you!

                                                            Come join us.

                                          Volunteer Opportunities

If you aren't available to assist in person,  we have non-perishable needs at every event:

Plastic grocery bags
Canned goods, boxed items,
Toilet paper, tissues, paper towels
Toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo

A small contribution of $5.00 a month will prepare 10 meals.  One in four families in Forsyth County are food insecure. Please help us help them. Thank you.

Please note: Youth are welcome but volunteers between the 5-13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult sponsor who will be responsible for their well being and actions.  Children under the age of 5 are not recommended to volunteer for this work program.  Thank you.
